FINAL MODEL L99 CONCEPT

photos of my final shape model =) finally!!!!

i was still painting untill the last minute.. masking and everything.. i guess the masking tape and the paint was really good.. i did not peel off anything even though i did not leave the paint for 24 hours.. or even finger prints..
also i put metallic black for the front lights and metallic red for the rear lights.. exhaust and rear garnish was silver with clear coat on.. i should've bought the tamiya for silver too.. autobarn ones creates orange skin..

these photos were taken by my iphone.. i will post up some better photos later with my good camera =)

first and second coat in yellow primer then the last one with grey, and then sanded..

i still hit the clay when sanding though.. need to do touch ups..

also i chipped off the clay when sanding.. i bogged it.. and it was hard to sand off!!! tricky..

be really careful when sanding..

and its really important to rip off small pieces of sand paper into thumbsize.. and sand it on a rotation so paint will stick on better and you would not have dimples after that

added the partlines and shellacking =)

tracing paper works really good! it helped me balance left and right graphics really evenly

racing stripes!!!!!! i was actually trying to fix the surface from the center line =)

finally other side done!!

a robot?

color picking

shopping for paint :D

transluscent pink?? maybe for the wheels

it would be good but definitely hurts my eye on daylight!!

this is a really good color! however, i talked with the shop owner and he said if i will be painting on clay, he would not recommend it, since i would have to paint it on gloss black first. firstly, taking too long to paint, and then i have risk of cracking the model later.. paint is anodized purple

so i choose blue violet instead =) the paint is really unique, sometimes it looks purple, and sometimes it looks blue. not really manly or girly color. referring to recent issues for being "hermaphrodite" i think it would be the perfect color..

and metallic red for my rear lights =)
metallic would bring up the depthness of the rear lights.. unlike flat red color..

clear coat

i use these to custom paint my wheels =)
custom gold paint with smoke color

the spray gun

also, i have lots of experience of using these Tamiya paint.. i usually build model kits of cars and robots. its not that i am a big fan of japanese products but definitely better than those automotive paint shit from autobarn. the can is really small. i ask the shop owner of how many cans do i need to paint up a 1:10 scale car, and he said just 1. i didnt believe him and so i bought 3. he was right!!!! i painted my third layer and i still have less than a quarter left! the paint was really thin but really rich in color.. and it NEVER BLOTS! i really recommend everyone to use this tamiya paint!!

laser cuttting!

i dont know it would finish this fast =)

first time ever using laser cut.. i was planning to shape the rear lights with it as well.. but it would be too flat and loses the lines that i have..

so i ended up only using the exhaust note

balancing act

trying to balance up my car both left and right.
i never thought it could be that easy. taking points is taking forever and too hard to point the exact same location on the other side..
luckily i used one of the rulers with the spirit levels, and it worked really well!! and after half an hour using it, i found that it actually has a place to put a needle on. so i did, and it worked really well!!
i should've used that thing long time ago.. so the build up process would be practically a breeze..

since i had lots of surfaces going on, i used 5 rolls of Tamiya tapes to save the surfaces that i wanted to keep. They are the best tapes that i ever used! They can be found in any hobby shops around 8 bucks or so.. Those black and yellow ones that was available in the clay room, leaves glue marks on top of the surface and was really hard to get rid of.. especially after leaving it over night.
